Bernard Evans
A Sunny Day In the Shade

b. 1929 –

An artist in watercolour, oil and pastel, born in Liverpool in 1929. He studied at Liverpool College and Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts in the 1950s under the tuition of German-Jewish painter Martin Bloch. Evans worked as a lecturer in Nottingham before settling in Cornwall, where he has spent the past thirty years and has become an important figure within the Newlyn Society of Artists. His main subject matter is the life and landscape of West Cornwall. He is now doing major work of London views (based on frequent visit to the capital) showing architectural landmarks, especially those along the stretch of the Thames from Westminster to Canary Wharf.
