Attended Bedford School before enlisting in the Royal Navy. He obtained a National Diploma in Design (1952) from Salisbury Art School and an art Teachers Diploma (1953) from Southampton University. He then attended Oskar Kokoschka’s School of Vision, Salzburg, (1958) and studied at La Grande Chaumiere, Paris (1958). His main interest is colour; vividly rendering traditional subjects of portraits, landscapes and figure compositions in oils and oil pastels. Derek Inwood lives and works in North Norfolk.
