William Freeman
Looking Out To Sea Boats With Storm Clouds

1853 - 1943

Born in Camberwell, Surrey. He was related to the Norwich School artist William Philip Barnes Freeman. Attended South Kensington Art School (later known as the Royal College of Art), winning an art Prize awarded by Lord Leighton. Freeman bought a shop selling artists’ materials, but had no business head. In his later years he became eccentric in dress and behaviour but continued painting and retired to Hampton Wick, near Teddington Weir.
